Very blustering all day today.  Did not attend church

 

Tuesday March 9, 1869

Attended a Norfolk surprise party this

 

Wednesday March 10. 1869

Mr Miles Riggs called on my school this forenoon.

 

Thursday, March 18, 1869

My examinations came off this afternoon.  15 visitors were present.

 

Friday March 19, 1869

Closed my school this afternoon, and sent my trunk home.

 

Saturday, March 20, 1869

Left Norfolk this morning.  Brought a draft of forty dollars at the bank and sent it from Canaan to father.  Rode in on the stage with Miss Sarah McC. on my lap.  Arrived at Platt Brook in the pm and came from there to Albert & Norton's and took tea.  Albert brought me to Lebanon in the evening.

 

Sunday March 21, 1869

Called on Wm. Harrison's today.

 

Monday March 22, 1869

Went to Pittsfield today and sat for a photo, Aunt Mary and Uncle Randolph went with me

 

Wednesday March 24 - Thursday March 25 are ripped out.

 

Saturday, March 27, 1869

For value received I promise to pay Hayden Egleston one "photo" six months after plate.

 

Monday, March 29, 1869

For value received three months after date, I promise to pay Hayden Egleston one photograph.

Hired out to Henry Hayden  this evening to work 4 1/2 months at thirty dollar per month withe privilege to cook, 1 1/2  months longer at 25.00 a month.

He agrees to settle for my washing if a part or all of it is done at home.

Called on Miss H this evening.

Thursday April 22, 1869

Commenced my sufferings for the summer as a manufacturer of brick.

 

 Our schoolmaster, now brick maker, makes no entries until May 9.

Rode over with Miss H. Called on the Bakersville prayer meeting.

 Went to Wolcottville with B. J. L.; called on Missus B.  It rained like ____

 

Torrington, CT was called "Wolcottville" from 1813 - 1881

Went to Winchester today.

Rec'd a letter from M. A. Morse. I have received letters from Miss R., Miss A., Miss B., and Miss G., Also one from Miss L. written about one week.

Rode out with Miss Libbie G. this eve.

Sunday, June 13, 1869

Attended church at Burrville in the morning. Road out with "Annie" this eve; had lovely time.  Saw Mel Barnes.

Had a most terrifying shower this afternoon that the Yankees ever witnessed.

 Tuesday, June 29, 1869

The grand Centennial celebration at Torringford comes off today.  Called after Annie to inform her of the reason I did not take her to the celebration. We called upon Miss Georgie B. in the evening.

  Was introduced to Miss Louise B.. also called upon Katie L.
